Photographer’s Note
Driving south on U.S. Highway 75 north of Tulsa. Small oil wells like this are scattered all over the countryside and are a very common sight but I still was hoping to find just the right one to photograph. This one was on the east side of the road on the top of a hill which made it perfect for what I was hoping to show: lots of wide open spaces in Oklahoma, bright blue sky and and symbolism of what heartland USA is all about.

Good minimalistic composition. Great saturated color and sharp too. I remember these when driving through Kansas a few years ago. They were all over the place. I guess they knew something we didn't - mainly $66 a barrel.
Good work.

Been waiting for over a week for a picture from you, you been busy or something? I too have been looking for a picture of a pump jack for quiet sometime. I really like your idea here it wasn't like mine at all. I love the way the red, black, blue and green contrast with each other so well. I bet someone says the horizon is tilted and you should say "did you know the world isn't flat?". The jack is straight and that is what matters. Well done, glad to see you back!
