Photographer’s Note

The Raleigh area is growing by leaps and bounds. “Housing developments” spring up all over the place. The homes are sold as fast as they are built. Here we see a row of houses that are less than six months old- sidewalks laid, sod put down and trees put up. This development contains more than a thousand homes! (At least the trees have turned a pretty red.)

Hi Randy,
This is almost frightening! At least, for me. The strange part is that it is almost without life. Except for the car, its like a desert! Everything is perfect, lawn well cut, houses all clean, white or beige. Even the trees are all the same size and the same red. I think I prefer a little bit more imperfection, because here, for me, it's lifeless, cold. Well, about your picture now, it is a good picture to show exactly that. Your POV brings the emphasis on the repetition of pattern. Well done!

excellent suburbia picture! it looks like the video game "The Sims". you captured it from a great angle, i like the smooth lines to this photo, trees look very sharp, and nice shadows. good stuff :)

Merveilleuses diagonales de toutes les couleurs formées tant par les arbres rouges, que ces maissons grises et blanches et cette route plus foncée.
Excellent cadrage.

Hi Randy,
Nice perspective. You have captured the spirit of suburban sameness very well. I think th at since the stars of the photo are the houses, you should crop it closer and the impact will be even better,
