Photographer’s Note

This is a butterfly I caught a picture of while taking pictures of flowers. The flower is called a pincushion because once all the flowers are dead what is left looks like several pins sticking out of a pincushion. You are able to see one just in the near background behind and above the butterfly. I'm not sure what type of butterfly this is, as I couldn't find a cooresponding picture of it on the website. Lovely image, I love how the sun is shining through the wings. I think I'd like the photo cropped a bit to get rid of the truck so I'm going to try a little workshop.

Hello Derrick! Quite a nice spring series you had there. Very refreshing and sweet to look at. I have regrets about the framing: the butterfly is too much in the center, you could have used the flowers' stem for composition. I tried a square crop, tell me what you think. Also, the light is quite strong on the flowers (but not much you can do about it), though I like a lot the light on the butterfly's wing, they look almost transparent.
