Home of the Washington Redskins

FedEx Field is the home of the Washington Redskins football team. It seats approximately 92,000 people and is currently the largest stadium in the National Football League.

The stadium sometimes called “Big Jack” was built by HOK Sports on the Wilson Farm in Landover Maryland at a cost of $250.5 million dollars. It opened in 1997 and was named The Jack Kent Cooke Stadium in honor of the owner of the team at that time. Mr. Cooke was able to obtain a US Postal zip code (an alternate for Landover) for the stadium site named Raljon for the his sons Ralph and John.

Daniel Snyder purchased the Redskins team in 1999 and the naming rights were sold to FedEx Corporation for $7.6 million dollars per year.

The lower level of FedEx Field is named for George Preston Marshall the first owner of the team. The second level is called the Joe Gibbs Club level in honor of the Hall of Fame American Football coach and the 20th and 26th head coach of the Washington Redskins. The third level is the Pete Rozelle level named for the longtime commissioner of the National Football League (NFL). There are more than 200 suites and luxury boxes in the stadium.

Every year since the stadium opened season tickets have sold out.
