Photographer’s Note

The previous picture showed the Maryland goalie (Brian Phipps) saving a shot from in close. Of course not all shots get saved. The best players can shoot the ball at speeds approaching 100 mph and the goalie trys to get the stick or any part of his body in the way. Despite the stretch, Phipps couldn't stop this shot from Hopkins attack Kyle Wharton. The game was the 105th time the two schools have met on the lacrosse field.

Great timing to capture the ball just as hits the back of the net, and good freezing of the action as the goalie makes a despairing to stop the shot.
