Sri Siva Vishnu Temple, the premier Hindu temple in the Washington DC Metropolitan area is located in Lanham, Maryland, about 12 miles from Washington DC. What started off as a very small idea, in the living rooms of a few devotees in the late seventies, has now blossomed into being one of the largest temples in the western hemisphere. The actual temple construction began in 1988 and has incorporated the Mayan, Pallava, Vijaynagara, Kerala and the South Canara styles of temple architecture. The Temple houses several deities, consecrated between the years of 1990 and 2003.
