Photographer’s Note
This is Hunting Creek Lake in Cunningham Falls State Park in northern Maryland. I took this last year about a week or two after the peak color. I was lucky because I was there as sunset was approaching and it gave me that warm light and the wind had died down to help the reflections. The leaves are a lot deader than they appear to be but they are being boosted by the light. I did not increase the saturation at all.
I forgot about ever taking the pictures until I rediscovered them again a few days ago. I've got one or two more from this lake I hope to post in the near future. Taken close to 5pm.

Hi Stephen,
Good color contrast between the warm autumnal foliage, the dark tonalities and the blue sky. I like as well the reflections in the lake and the trees which add a touch to your compo.
Cheers,
Marilyn

Hi Stephen,
This is nature at its best. A perfect combination of the autumnal colours and the light of setting sun. The reflections are fantastic as well.

I think that the tree here really breaks up the horizontal lines of the trees from across the lake and the reflection. A very nice balanced framework. Good stuff... thanks for sharing. I think I would have from my own perspective allowed a little more in the frame showing the trees on the other side of the lake. Just my perspective!!

Hello, Stephen--
This one is nice, the foreground tree and rock make nice compositional elements, and you exposed the intense colors very well.
Thanks for this one!

Hi Stephen,
Best regards.
Daniel.

Lovely shot Steve. The reflections are beautiful and make good symmetry. However you have added the foreground tree that works a treat to add an extra element. I like looking through the spindley branches to the autumn colours beyond.

Hi Stephen - I like the two lines of sunlight in this, and the gorgeous colour that they show. The tree in sihoette gives us some nice detail and helps also to give this a good sense of depth. Well done!

Hi Stephen,
An interesting composition, with the charismatic tree dominating amidst blazing tones and hues of late fall. The reflection is impressive, particularly given the dark foreground. This low angle perspective has yielded good dividends with a warm ambience. Rather artistic, Steve. Well done.

Bonjour Stephen,
Ce qui saute aux yeux, c'est cette très belle lumière douce et caressante.
J'aime cette roche près du lac qui s'apparente à une sorte de grosse tortue venant se désaltérer.
L'ambiance générale est très bien restituée.
Amitiés.

Hi Stephem
Strange landscape ! The rock at the bottom of the tree look like an enormous beatle giving to the shot a prehistoric aspect. Nice contrast between blue and orange.
Cheers

Hi Stephen
Amazing autumn colurs you present here - the mix of close and far objects works nicely and gives extra depth. Too bad I missed those kind of shots this year - tfs

Hi Steve,
The lacey branches of the tree provide a great filter for viewing the autumn colors and the pale sky, the reflection seems to have no clear connection to the trees but insead seems almost to appear magiclly as a flection of the heat of the intense colors.

Hi Stephen! The vibrant colors during this time are very much suited for photographers - you were rewarded for waiting for the right light. The dead tree gives a dramatic effect to the photo. The reflections and sharpness are excellent! Why is it called Hunting Creek?

I Stephen - gorgeous colors and reflections, the branches are a perfect solution for the "blank sky" problem, excellent details in shadows while maintaining proper brightness in highlights.
