Photographer’s Note
Loons are water birds like ducks, geese, and grebes, but they are classified separately by scientists. The Common Loon is the species best known to most of us, as its breeding range lies in the southern parts of Canada and the northern areas of the central United States.
Loons have long been considered by many North Americans as beautiful and special, symbolizing wilderness and solitude. Many cottage-goers, campers, and vacationers would feel their trip was incomplete without seeing a loon or listening to its haunting call.

Tricky bird to expose correctly on account of the strong black-white difference, but you've managed very well here ;-) Photo's nice and sharp and with good DOF.

A very fine loon and a good picture to. Nothing to distract the attention here and a nice colorscale. And you managed to get variation and detail in the deep blacks too, good job.
I think this is what we call "Lom" with a deep "ooo"-sound. Almost the same name!

Very nice picture of a beautiful bird Vladimir. Clever handling of dof and light/contrast. I like the way the colour of the water match the b/w bird - well done.
