HPA2009-The Traditional Baltic Wedding

In a beautiful place on the nature, nearby a site of ancient settlement, about an oak, a spring, at an altar the marriage ceremony is carried out. Everyone become around of an altar. The jug of water and a towel for washing are prepared. A “kankles” (Lithuanian stringed instrument) is played. The chapter calls everyone to honor Fire and Gods, addresses a deity of the site “Zemepatis”. “Jovaras” is chanted.
The matchmaker cuts off a lock of hair of the bride and the groom, passes through rings and burns. The matchmaker gives the rings to the newlyweds and let they exchange. The chapter connects hands of the newlyweds by the sash. Lips of newlyweds are smeared with honey, they eat an apple, and the grain is strewn at them.
