Photographer’s Note

Sunset photograph taken at Aligator Bayou, located 15 minutes from Baton Rouge.

Nearly 1,500 acres were acquired, 901 of which are preserved as is in perpetuity through a national non-profit organization, Bluff Swamp Wildlife Refuge & Botanical Gardens. Today this area is home to giant old-growth bald cypress trees, alligators, snakes, turtles, owls, white-tailed deer, frogs, birds and many other species.

Hi there,
so... it was you, posting this great shot of Alligator Bayou!
I would say it perfectly conveys all the elements that make Loozeana such a unique place on Earth.
(I might know it, as I've been spending plenty time in NOLA and wide surroundings for the past 17 years in a row...)
The only thing lacking in your picture is a soundtrack! Like, somebody playing acoustic slide on an old Dobro...

Hi Adrienne. Great photo. Well composed and framed. Looks like the white balance has washed a little colour from your sunset. To capture the sunset colours more faithfully you need to set the white balance on your camera manually or if your camera has a sunset mode, select that. Nice work and thanks for sharing.

Hello Adrienne,
Your name adrienne sounds french (as adrienne claire!). I like very much this picture, because on the light with the sun close to horizon line and also because of the trees with gorgeous reflects so you cannot guess if it is reflect or not!.
It reminds me the swamp of okefenokee I visited long years ago.
