Photographer’s Note

ALrighty, I know many of you all have seen my previous posting of this same shot and I got requests for a larger version. Unfortunately, the previous one was a fast scan of an actual silver print and not really editable. So instead I scanned three separate negatives of that shot. I Picked this one because it was slightly more dense than the one I made the print from, though it was taken at the same time within a foot or two of the previous shot posted here. I did this one with greater contrast and dynamic range when I did the scanning and applied signature tritone to the image. This is the result.

This tree is the largest and perhaps oldest tree in Savannah, GA. The trunk is big enough that it takes 4-5 adults to hold hands around it. This was taken at 28mm focal length to get as much of the tree as possible. It's canopy is so full that when you drive up to it, it looks like a line of normal size trees. Thankfully, the planners gave it it's own lot instead of cutting it down for the acre it sits on. It is in the middle of a housing area on prime real estate, so this is no small gesture. It would break my heart to see her cut down. This was taken on the foggiest day I ever experienced. Thank goodness I had my camera.

If you are curious, here is the original silver print I made from this image's sibling negative.
