Alhambra Water Tower, a photo from Florida, South

Photographer's Note

This area of north Coral Gables was George Merrick's first platted subdivision. Alhambra Circle contains a landscaped median shown at the right. This view is looking northeast, adjacent to the lighthouse. Alhambra Circle curves to the east at this point, connecting with Granada Boulevard. Coral Way is located to the south.

The water tower was built in 1924, and it was used as part of the city's water supply system. It was restored in 1993 from 1924 photos of the structure.

Hello Lakshmi,

The POV is well chosen to show this tower with it's contrasting colors. I like the framing with the trees and the branches overlapping. The nice blue sky gives good colors and sharpness.

Hello Dear Lakshmi,

Although the tree branches are still bare, in the colours and the quality of the sunshine I feel the arrival of an early spring. The colourful water tower is full of charm. I wonder what kind of precedence the architect of this tower used to design this version. The colourfully painted tower appears to have its origin in the south of Europe (?). The tower is very photogenic just as the well-saturated blue sky in the background. What is equally inviting is the view that one must be able to achieve from the top of this tower; one must be able to see far away. In the sunlight like this, I would very much like to climb the tower and look at the views which it has to offer. For what is foreshadowed in the photo I feel warmth and friendliness. This is indeed a very nice image.

This water tower looks almost like a lighthouse which I like very much. So it was a reason why I chose this photo.
