This specie stalks prey from low perches in its preferred habitats of woodlands and swamps.
I've been granted of a steady pose for about ten minutes and after I climbed very slowly in a facing tree located at about 15 feet (4,5m), I could get finally its portrait with my modest focal lenght entended at 8x. I secured the camera on a branch and shot about 10 pictures. I took more from a lower angle.
PP: Sharpening, vignette effect and backdrop blur for evident reasons.

Le bel éclairage et la qualité d'image mettent bien en valeur ce magnifique oiseau. Le plumage est superbe et tu as su déclencher au bon moment pour le prendre en chantant, il me semble l'entendre. Bonne composition et belle diagonale.

Your efforts were well rewarded with this striking capture of this of this beautiful bird of prey.
Love the sharp details to his talons, plumage and of course that angry beak.
Makes you gland to not be a mouse.
The lighting here is superb lending a lovely warmth to the bird and his perch.

Hi Robert. Nice to see that you have resumed posting images. I love this photo, not only because I love birds of prey, but also because of the wonderful capture and the special light which gives the bird's underparts a beautiful patterned effect. I am amazed that the hawk did not fly away seeing your antics. The birds of prey in America must be less frightened of humans than here in Australia.beautiful bird, beautiful shot. Regards. Klaudio.

Sharp fine details in the plumage!
We have different kinds of hawks here too and I recognize some common features, my first memory of this bird is when they took my grandmother's chicken hehehe.... Believe me, she didn't laugh!
A lovely bird indeed, seem like he is holding something in the beak..?

Honestly you can tell me that this or that bird is sitting there and I will belief it. I like to watch birds but I have no clue who is who. Your shot is very well composed and executed with great great sharpness, vivid colors - just have to look at the eye of the bird - and perfect DOF due to the aperture. Well done

With patience taken, fabulous portrait of an incredible bird.
Amazing clear details of the body, feathers, beak and eyes. The dark BG enhancing it's view.

En regardant ta galerie, je suis tombée sur ce beau spécimen que tu as immortalisé, le bec ouvert ;D De belles ombres/lumières et bon rendu des couleurs. le résultat général est appréciable.
