Photographer's Note

The Edison Theatre was built in 1941 and is located in downtown Fort Myers. The opening night double feature were the movies "Rio", starring Charlie Chan and "The Mystery Ship" with Dwight Frye, Paul Kelly and Lola Lane. Back then the theatre was a very popular place to go since it was also one of the first buildings in Fort Myers to have air conditioning. Today the theatre houses professional offices including one of the biggest law firms in southwest Florida.

Back in 1985 a movie called "Day of the Dead" was filmed in downtown Fort Myers using the Edison Theatre as one of its more recognizable locations. A photographer buddy of mine was cast as a zombie and appears in the movie a couple of different times. He said working on the film was a whole lot of fun, plus they provided lunch and a small daily wage to him and all of his zombie friends.
