I was lucky enough to get a free day following a business trip to Florida recently which I used to go on a one-day safari, deep into The Everglades National Park.
My main objective was to get some photos of alligators. This is probably my favourite alligator shot from the day; a close up of an alligator's eye.
I was very surprised by how close one can get to these beasts. This particular photo was taken from inside an open top vehicle, but during the day we also walked along mud tracks, and found myself at one point standing about four or five feet from a gator hissing his dissapproval of our closeness, mouth wide open showing all his nasty teeth. The majority of the gators around 6 foot long, including the tail, some would have been bigger.
I was truly amazed by the amount of wildlife in the Everglades, especially the birds. Some more photos will follow in the coming days.

This is fantastic! Look at the alligator´s skin, and the light reflecting on it, fabulous! He looks nice for someone who´s called a predator...look, he smiled for you :)! Well done, great oportunity!

Very interesting choice of frame Martin... It is beautiful and intimidating at the same time... The skin's texture is very interesting. Well done!
