A piece of old Washington preserved. I was reminded of how in other countries houses are built around exisiting stones or mountains.

Beautiful and strange situation, compliments, colors, perspective and composition are very good.

This is a very nice example of heritage preservation's success. Unfortunately, it is not always the case, as monetary gains often become, sadly, the determining factor.
That ONE WAY sign is perhaps symbolic...hope not.
A clear, perhaps a bit understated (which is good, imo) and nice shot. Have you tried to take it also from a greater distance, or perhaps from worm's eye view, with a stronger emphasis on its "embeddedness" of old Washington in the new one?
I can see you are having a warmer time over the border!
Take care, bon voyage home Elaine!

I really love this practice of leaving such lovely old characterful buildings amongst glass, concrete, brick and steel moderns - the Americans really seem to excel at it - I can see Sasa's point about taking a wider view but it is really nice to see the detail of this lovely building.
best wishes Kev
