Photographer’s Note

This is a metro subway stop in Wash D.C.

I wish most museums, churches, and other public venues will change their policy regarding use of tripods; but I do understand (although not completely) that this policy is for security reason. No tripod was used here, and I had to open the aperture to allow lights. PP work involved desaturation, auto exposure, and sizing.

A very lovely shot out of the metro, perfect perfective.

A very good perspective along this metro platform with the added bonus of the brightly lit train. I like the repeating motifs in the tiling on the walls and ceiling. Exposure is very well managed. Excellent detail.

Incredible linear perspective, with impeccable sharpness & punchy contrast & saturation. I like the graphism & repetition of the patterns in a mostly b&w tonal range, contrasting against the red streaks of color on the train. Tfs!

I share your view about use of tripods, but here I find amazing you were even allowed to take this hand held picture in such a paranoiac environment as the US, trying to do it in London could lead you to jail, I was stopped from photographing in the Brussels Metro and in Paris it's forbidden as well. It's all plain bullshit nonsense because they can't enforce it with mobile phones, are people phoning of photographing for Al Qaeda ??? I get a modern feeling from this image and the warm color radiating from the subway are pleasant

Yes, I agree with you regarding the use of tripods in certain places! Anyway, even without it, you certainly did a superb photo job here!
The visual results are so attractive and truly beautiful, with colors, lights and graphism that are very eye-catching! The ceiling is pretty interesting and very nice indeed!

Hello Danilo,
Also without a tripod you managed to take thsi sharp and clear view. Fine colour contrast between the greyish white of the metro station, the warmer light inside the wagons, and the red lights.

Amazing wide angle effect, it is like the train is twisted with the distance from the camera!
Otherwise stunning lines, and the point of view is perfect...
The people inside is an important element, contrasting well with the graphical impression from the location!

A well composed photo you are posting here. The bit cold and sterile atmosphere of the station is well captured here. The red lights do live it up a little though.
The passengers are well captured here. I just wonder how a certain part of the ceiling got so dark.

Hi Danilo,

I love everything about this photo. The alternating pattern of light and dark on the ceiling, the effect of the platform lights on the side of the train and the way each window of the train captures a different scene of daily DC life makes this picture truly unique. I've ridden the metro many times, but I have never seen like this.
