Photographer’s Note
This picture was take around Christmas time in Rehoboth Beach in Delaware. It was around 30˚F that day, but it was still just as beautiful as ever. I took this from the balcony of my hotel room.
And thankfully with the help of John Paskey/happypoppeye I can finally post a picture that has been touched up a bit and even includes a border! Hope this looks better than my other pictures. Let me know what you think, thanks!

Hmmm, thats some good PP there...
It's actually a pretty good daily life along the beach type of shot. It looks like a warm summer day but looks can be deceiving. I like the lone figure and the diagonal of the beach and water's edge.
Good work.

Hi Lilly.
Good diagonal composition.
Great tones and lights.
And the borders..they give a perfect look for the image.

Hi Liz,
I've been looking at your shots - gotten there through the same John Paskey by the way ;-). I do agree that this is the best shot in your gallery so far. Is it due to the diagonals in the shot in the shoreline, the point of view or the lonely man. Or is it thanks to the unsharp mask, the local smart sharpen and a slight increase in saturation?
I think it's a good combination of the two. You will never be able to make a perfect picture out of nothing with post processing. If you would shoot a bad shot, it will still be a bad shot after pp, but just sharper and more saturated. And if you have a great shot, you can work on it to make your D40 and kit lense look like a D2H with pro glass ;-).
Nice shot. Thanks for sharing!
Greetings, Dennis
PS: Ask that John as well on how to upload the exif data of your shot... Your camera settings. John, help the woman! Hahaha

Hi Elizabeth..this is a nice shot. I think you should get your own camera and get into this..you have a good eye. If you get the book "The Digital Photographer" by Scott Kelby, you will be in a few days at the semi pro level....
Good luck.

Hey Liz,
Just by reading your title 'Winter Beach' makes me chill, also looking at the date taken 28 Dec!!! Sure is freezing out there! I spent Christmas and New Year one time in the U.S. of Jan 06, went to California in Santa Monica beach and we all went for a swim!!! Duuuude I froze - good thing we had rum with Coke! As John Paskey said: looks can be deceiving, until you try it out!
Image is very relaxing, peaceful for such a beautiful beach. The inclusion of a man makes the sense or 'winter feel' of the place, it's scale of the wide shoreline and horizon. Can't wait till you see this during summer.
All the best!

Beach photos are my favourite. I definitely like this one Elizabeth. The color is natural, the proportions of sky, sea and sand are perfect. Exposure, perspective, horizontal and vertical lines are fine. A bit more sharpness would do no harm and it would be perfect if the flag was waving.
However, very good photographic work.
Cheers!

Well, if that is what it takes I will ask John to work on my pictures too, Liz. That is really the best worked picture in your small gallery and I see a clear improvement in the presentation. Shall I say it or not? ... indibulous or pretty close. That singel person walking on that beach is a precious add to the scene and makes the image work!
Regards, Peter
P.S. If you need additional help for future posts and questions I'm also available. I know that John will be away pretty soon ... :-)

Hi Liz,
This one stands out beacuse of the perfect share of space you've given to the sky,sea and the beach. The sharpening and contrast are just as much required!!Add to that the lovely soft colors!!I love the lonely man walking down the beach.
Its a very graceful shot, and a treat to watch!!
Take care,
Sagarneel.

Hi Liz,
I do like this winter beach; with its clean sweep of sand almost untracked and the empty benches. The colors are true, the angle of the jetty adds good detail and the flag a touch of color. You clearly have a good eye for details. Here in SD I used to enjoy the winter beach but it seems to have become year-round busy lately.
Wishing you health, love & joy, (HLJ) Pat
