Photographer's Note

A simple rainbow over Bethany Beach, Delware, viewed as it descends toward the water. The beach is out of view here, hidden by the reeds growing out of protective dunes that separate the beach from the boardwalk and protect against erosion. The walkway leads from the boardwalk over them, providing access.

Hi Andrew,
Its hard to beat a rainbow and the grass provides a nice colorful foreground. The grass also looks lovely and soft, something I like, as I find the grass in Irish beaches to quite sharp and pointy. The softness goes well with the rainbow.

I love the oranges in the grass along with the rainbow. Nice, shot, and good decision to focus on the grass rather than the rainbow.

Hi Andrew,
A lovely shot with an effective choice of the vertical composition- not the obvious choice for a rainbow :)
I think the real winner here has to be the light falling on the tops of those grasses and the golden tones you have captured.

To some this looks easier than it is in terms of exposure. Do you expose for the sky and get the rainbow's colour accurately or do you expose for the foreground and risk the overexposure of the sky? Seems you got the balance about right here Andrew.

This is a beautiful scene, with great plays of light, especially on the golden plant in the foreground. The rainbow is of course a bonus. Good choice too with the verticale frame. There is a slight over-exposure which has blown out the sky a little. This is where a grey grad filter either on-camera at the time of shooting, or later in post-processing, would help. Both with the exposure of the sky and the darkening of the rainbow's colours. Nice work, thanks for sharing.
