Photographer’s Note
After a small cable car ride - witch cost only 16$USD ! - you can get the best view of Charlotte Amalie, the capital of St. Thomas.
This was a wonderful day in my vacation. I got to scuba dive in the morning and in the afternoon I rented a motorcycle to tour the island by myself. Many of you know that I love motorcycles, so to get to ride one in this Caribbean paradise was a real treat for me.
On the bottom of the image you can see 3 very large cruise ships from 3 different companies. On the left there's Royal Caribbean, in the middle it's a Disney ship and on the right Carnival cruises. Each of them has about 3000 passengers on board. Almost 10 000 people that will spend the day spending money in town. Tourism is an enormous business isn't it.
Have a good day.

sensational shot ... this is a brilliant composition ... from the boats, to the houses dotting the hills, to the smattering of clouds. i can even see clear shadows of clouds on the far hill. the colours are great.
this would have been an amazing panorama! none the less, it's still a spectacular shot.

Hi Paul,
Your POV here is what makes this photo special. You have rendered a sweeping vista and the cruise ships really enhance and balance the frame. Good contrasting colours and much for the eye to take in. The angle of the hills spreading away into the background gives good depth. Very well captured.

Ciao Paul
This is just fantastic. Technically perfect I think. An amazing landscape with those floating towns in the bay! The polariser really brings out the blues here. The water is simply fantastic, the scuba diving must have been brilliant.
Bravo

Salut Paul,

Hi Paul, A nice paradise view. I am not sure the boats in this picture can be called small ones though. What a beautiful harbor. It looks that this small harbor is overwhelmed by the three cruises staying there at the same day. Beautifully captured contrast and clarity. Well done.

Bonsoir Paul.

Only 16$ for the cable car ride, what a bargain :O The sheer amount of detail in this pleasant photo is amazing, I particularly like the scattered houses on the hills, and the super-sized cruise ships in the marina. Pleasant colors and light all over, nice catch Paul.

Bonsoir Paul,
Bravo !

Hi Paul.
I can't beleive the size of those ships.
The point of view is great, you can look as far in the distance as the eye can see and yet, ships are what occupy the attention.

Salut Paul,

Another great shot from your vacation Paul;
I've never been to the Virgin Island, but have heard alot about them- and the look just as good as they sound- awesome!
Good composition with lots of interesting things to look at. Did you say only $16USD? Sounds a bit expensive to me- I think the one in Vancouver was free last time I went up it to go for dinner.... Haha.
Do you sharpen your images before or after resizing them? Sharpening AFTER you resize your images gives a slightly better result, and will eliminate the faint ghosting visible where the sky meets the frame. Just a small suggestion I think you might find useful Paul...
All the best, and Seasons Greetings!

Hello St. Paul,
Your donation is highly appreciated by the poor souls who believe in TE and a better life. Thank you for giving us hope to life in one of the small white houses after we arrived in one of the small white vessels.
;-) I believe in what I see and this is your great photographic skills. TFS Thomas

Hi Paul
Fantastic shot. Those clouds over sky came very nice. A vibrant color of sky, water and trees/plant really opened the picture. Its very nicely composted shot. Nice POV. Great work.
