[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This photo was taken outside the old city wall of San Juan. The wall encircles the old city and has several forts attached to help protect this 400 year-old colony. Puerto Rico was then considered the gateway to the Caribbean and the Spanish needed to protect it. So they built forts and the wall with lookout towers, like the one seen in the distance.
