Photographer’s Note
I sleep til noon when I'm not travelling, but awaken before dawn when I am. Such was the case on this Sunday morning before sunrise when I took the bus from Ocean Park into Old San Juan and began my peripatetic discovery of the town before the cruise ship passengers and all-night revelers were even awake. This is a shot of the Paseo Princesa which joins up with the Paseo del Morro and leads one half way around the fortified old city. It's a dead end, and one has to retrace one's steps to get back, but, for one hour, at this ungodly hour, one is all alone and surrounded by both history, beauty, and about a hundred feral cats awaiting the dole. I'd say that a 2-h paseo here is equivalent to two days of meditation in group therapy. And, to boot, it's FREE!
