This father-son shot is dedicated to my son, Henry, who wanted so much quality time with his parents that he decided not to sleep between the hours of 11:30 pm and 4am last night!
This is the lawn leading up to El Morro, the largest fort in San Juan. The tower at the far end is the lighthouse within the fortress; destroyed by American fire during the Spanish American War of 1898, it was faithfully rebuilt afterward.
This spot, with its wide open grass and strong winds, has become a favorite spot for kite-flying, with Puertorriquenos and tourists alike sending theirs aloft to dot the sky. Her the scene unfolds behind this father-son team just getting theirs into the air. This small version doesn't really allow you to see all of the kites in the air; click on the larger version below for a better view. Note also that the domed structure from my recent cemetery post is also visible, under the city walls to the right.

fantastica questa distesa di genitori e bambini che punteggiano il grande prato, tutti intenti a divertirsi e giocare, la cosa migliore che possa fare una famiglia.
Bellissima idea ed eccellente realizzazione.

Haha, great dedication! :) Who doesn't enjoy flying a kite, especially under a setting like this?!! The picture itself is solid, but the emotion conveyed through the father-son time together is what's so compelling...even for a single guy like me, I can still appreciate the bond. Looks like the perfect place for a day out and about, I really like how the people all seem to be so evenly spaced throughout the park. Did you pose them? lol Bright, cheerful and full of fun. Very well done! Enjoy the rest of your evening. Take it easy.

A wonderful place to kite fly with the classical El Morro and blue ocean as a backdrop for the large grassy playing field.

This is a very good photo, maybe one of your best. The colors are very appealing and the view of the wide green area is quite stunning. The father and his boy are perfectly placed in the foreground and we can see the connection between them and their kite. I like the boy's very active participation. Lots of people are spread out all over the field and one group fill the lower right corner very nicely. There is a fine diagonal line going through the big kite, the distant statue and the red dome. The light and colors are superb and there's a great, relaxed atmosphere that I enjoy a lot.

What a great image! The scene is expertly composed and very well timed (hard to do with so many people moving in varying directions). Beautiful natural light, a nice POV that gently looks down (then up) the hill and lots of interesting elements to look at - whether the father/son team, their kite, the beautiful architecture dominating the background, the contrasting blue gradients of the sea and sky or the many persons that dot the green carpet in a lovely pattern.

this is certainly a friendly type of atmosphere here!
I bet you were thinking one day you'll be doing the same with your son! :)
its making me want to go grab a kite too, and who could blame me here, its perfect.
and its great that you pointed out the dome on the right.
very sweet shot

I really like the sense of perspective created by the collection of people of different "size". :)
Lovely light and relaxed atmosphere very well conveyed.

The yellow kite top left contrasts superbly against the blue sea and sky. Amazing repetition of the people scattered around the park with fantastic sharpness, colour and saturation. Well composed with the horizon line above centre. Tfs!

The joys of parenthood Andrew!
It won't be so long before you and your son will be flying a kite like the father and son pictured here (and like this dad, you can be a child again!) I love the spacious open outlook of this shot. A perfect place for family fun.

I have a little daughter so I know what you are talking about. We played with the kite last weekend as well. She is too little for that yet but she had a lot of fun anyway. Great spot here with a feeling of vast space. People are great scale markers here becoming so tiny further in the distance. I like the pleasant colors. I recognize the red dome further in the right from your other photo.
Very well done,

A very pleasant and inviting scene!
It looks lively too!
Sharpness, exposure, colors, chosen pov and composition are all very good photo qualities!
TFS - congrats,
