Photographer’s Note
Could not resist returning to this old mill for another shot.
The stone building is the former blacksmith shop of Stephen Whipple built in 1823.
This smitty used water power to help manufacture farm implements and decorative gates and fences.
All the mills of the day were built of similar stone construction because of the danger of fire from the machinery sparks.

Hi Tom,
Way to go buddy, great shot. Good sharps, excellent POV, composition and wow, what a picturesque looking building.
I like the ice sheet in the foreground reflection, winter must be on the way out.
I'd love to see another shot of this in summer or fall when the trees have their full coat of leaves.
A place I'd love to visit.
Cheers

Tom, another great one for your gallery. Color and detail on this one is fantastic. Is this one still occupied? it kind of looks lived in, what a place it would be as a home.

i don't like the halos we often see in sky around the horizon line or like here around the house
the photo is dull too, some contrast would fix it
but, the framing and the angle are excellent, remarquable subject

This looks more like a great place to live than a mill. And the location by the river is simply dreamful. The shot is perfect with a great reflection, great light and great colours. Well done.

Hi Tom,
It must have been great to work in such a pretty environment and the old stone gives the place such nice charm. The surrounds of the river, the wooded area and the snow-covered landscape provide an excellent "backdrop" to this structure. Your clarity is perfect and I like the remnants of the ice on the water's surface. It would also be nice to see a slightly wider view of the location. Great photo.
Cheers Grant

Hi Tom, excellent capture of the old mill, Like the angle of the shot. Very nice reflection on the water and nice blue sky. A lot of details in this shot the shadow from the tree limbs on the mill and very nice soft light highlights every thing. Great job Tom.
Best regards
Jason.

Tom there seems to be good evident reason for you to return to the old mill as I see it. First the character of the building itself with slabs of contrasting stones, the mirror reflection of the water and floating ice, and of course the warm sunshine, which in due time will bring more signs of spring, just as I am longing for myself.
Thanks for sharing..a fine shot indeed.

Hi Tom,
a beautiful old mill and in a great setting. What a great mirror the water is forming before it's falling down in the stream.

Hello Tom,
The mills had important functions in the society back then, making use of the important source of energy rivers were back then (and still are, of course)..!
The composition is skilfully done, showing good details in the structure....
I notice the signs of spring coming, I'm afraid we have a bit more snow here this year..!
Greetings,

Hello Tom,
Yes, a subject well worth photographing many times in different lights. I like the perspective here and the way the light brings out the golden tones in the old stones. The reflections contribute to the mood. Very good sharpness.
