The Newport Bridge as seen from Jamestown, Rhode Island, on a warm summer day.
The state of Rhode Island provides an interesting combination of the old and the new, urban and rural -- sometimes this contrast is particularly visible, as in this shot. The island of Jamestown is home to a tranquil, fairly agricultural town in Narragansett Bay, connected to the bustling colonial port city and popular tourist destination, Newport, via the Newport Bridge, the longest suspension bridge in New England. |
