Newport is a city on Aquidneck Island in Newport County, Rhode Island. Known as a New England summer resort and for the famous Newport Mansions.
The Claiborne Pell Newport Bridge ("Newport Bridge") crosses Narragansett Bay. It connects the City of Newport, RI and Jamestown. It is the largest suspension bridge in New England. Its main towers are 122 meters (400 feet) above the water. The bridge was constructed from 1966-1969.
