On the way from work today, I saw this cloud in the north hanging above the treetops like a huge mountain. It immediately reminded me of the subtitle for Alan Hovhaness Symphony # 2, the Mysterious Mountain. I kept watching for a good place to pull over and finally had my chance around Wampum. This is taken from PA Route 18 looking north. Since this cloud reminded me of one of his works, today's upload is dedicated to Alan Hovhannes and all his fans.
Mysterious Mountain is the subtitle of Hovhaness' Symphony # 2. It is the composer's most celebrated and enduring work. It was composed in 1955 and premiered by Leopold Stokowski for his debut appearance with the Houston Symphony. According to Hovhaness, Mysterious Mountain does not portray any specific mountain, but "the whole idea of mountains." Hovhannes might not have had a specific mountain in mind, but I think I found his mysterious mountain about 58 years after he wrote the symphony.
Hovhanness, Gizemli Dağ
Bugün işten dönerken, kuzeyde büyük bir dağ gibi ağaç tepelerinin üzerinde asılı bu bulut gördüm. Hemen bana Alan Hovhaness'in 2.
Gizemli Dağ Hovhaness'in 2.

You're capturing well this scene by a good composition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the big clouds like a mountain which is seen the country road. Surely, it looks like a symphony as you consider. It finishes an art work intermingling with the road with ups and down and tasteful winter trees.

These clouds are exactly mountains to the sky.
You chose a very well angle this cares for depth and perspective
You play excellent with light and shade.
Sharpness and clarity make these picture attractive.
Very well done, TFS.

nice the view of the place with the colourful clouds to hang over the top of the mountain.I like the creative perspective as the excellent light and colour management of the scene.

A wonderful note written to an impressive road-scenery. The clouds built on far has an impact on the whole.
Why taken with a flash? that's caused a bit of "grainy" effect over dark parts of the image.
good idea, though, taking with the road stretched forwards.

The yellow lines of this road provides a strong diagonal line in this composition. The road leads the eye to the sky above, with all these beautiful colours.

Dark and moody composition with very dramatic and threatening cloud formation up there. Clarity on the road renders a superb depth and a good sense of scale
but the contrast works best here. Congrats

From your thumbnail image I thought it was a snow covered mountain, and am amazed at your cloud creation.
Being a geek in school I loved classical music which did not set well with the bullies, but then they usually learned that geeks could physically defend themselves sometimes.
I am a fan of Alan Hovhaness, and his Mysterious Mountain would be a fine soundtrack to your image.

Very interesting note, At first view I thought of a classic capture of a route with a mountain at the back, good place to stop and a great capture you obtained with a good POV, like also the kind of frame given by the dark vegetation
Congrats and going to search about this music

at first I thought that the "mysterious mountain" was the dark area crossed by the deserted street. The clouds complicate the view in a fascinating way. They almost change the landscape, adding a high and inaccessible peak ahead of this route. I like very much the way you captured this scene, there's great sense of depth. I think that the impact of the cloud/mysterious mountain would be even stronger if you cropped a little from the top of the frame. There are moody tones all over but fine contrasts too. The atmosphere is captivating. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great day,

sometimes the clouds in the horizon looks like giant mountains like this one, it is special when this landscape is familiar and we can see it everyday, looks like our world had being modified. very nice use of elements here. TFS.
