Photographer’s Note
This is a shot of a portion of the carefully constructed Miniature Railroad & Village housed at the Carnegie Science Center located in Pittsburgh. The entire model is a massive and incredibly detailed reconstruction of how Pittsburgh looked in the year 1900. Lights are timed to simulate the passing of a day every few minutes - they gradually darken and lighten the scene. The entire model includes a number of towns, village squares, a large steel mill, rivers, hotels, and hundreds of tiny people engaged in work and leisure activities.
Here, a model barge moves an entire house up the river to be deposited in a different location.

Hello Sandy,
When I opened this photo it instantly reminded me of Mr. Roger's neighborhood! He had that tiny replica of the town at the beginning of his show. :-) I'm sure this model of early Pittsburgh must be great, and I like the detail that you chose to show us. The extremely tiny people working near the water are nice, too!
