Photographer’s Note
This was taken through the plane window on a flight from Florida to New York.
I saw all these skyscrapers glowing in the afternoon sun but I didn't know what city it was. When I got home I identified it as Philly from maps and Google Earth.
Post-processing - have sharpened, increased the contrast and adjusted colour levels slightly to remove a slight blue haze which I think came from the glass in the window.

Hello Leon,
This is a fabulous shot that GoogleEarth would give its eye tooth for -- clear and beautifully exposed. In driving from Washington, DC to Princeton, NJ along Rt. 95, during the 1980s when my son was a student at Princeton, I used to see construction progression on the two matching buildings with pointed tops (1/3 from the right, and 1/2 from the bottom). I was always mystified about how they could use plywood sheets in forming the shapes, but then it all came together. You can also see the bridge in the top left corner, named after Walt Whitman, famous 19th century American poet. Again, excellent shot. Regards from Virginia, Bulent

WOW, WOW, WOW - really great overwiev of Philadelphia taken from airplane. I may see whole Phily downtown, Independence Hall, Benjamin Franklin Bridge, Amtrak Station, Elysian Fields almost every important object in this city. I`m very impressed when I`m looking at your very clear and sharp picture. That`s only harm that you cut off from the frame Museum of Art... Doesn`t matter great shot - Phily from air looks fantastic. I saw this city from a plane when I was landing at Philadelphia Airport but altitude of my plane was of course much lower and the view was not as extensive. Excellent picture- my great congratulations! With best regards! Andrzej

Very successful shot from a plane window. There's incredible detail visible. You're right the light on the buildings is very attractive.

Hi Leon,
Great and unusual shot. It looks like a Sim City's screenshot!
Very interesting to see the structure of a US City. Excellent sharpness. Philadelphia looks so small with this view!

You got it perfect. The main parts of the city are all in your framing with the exception of the impressive Museum of Art. It would be located in the middle portion of the bottom. You see the huge diagonal incoming avenue? That is where the museum is located. Amazing how sharp you got everything. I'm still working to get such a clear and interesting shot form a plane.
Kind regards, Peter

Great shot Leon! Interesting how your picture shows the gradual build-up of a downtown. Nice framing of this urban landscape.
