The neighbor's grass is greener, their roses are redder, their trees are taller, their cat is prettier and their holiday decorations are definitely brighter. However, since I have no desire to climb on the roof to put lights up, we'll leave them uncontested and enjoy the scenery.
(Camera was handheld. I removed a pesky yellow pole and a stop sign with street signs on top through cloning.)

Capturing my neighbor's well-decorated and well-lit house on the other street was also my plan as soon as December 1st steps in. That was their tradition for a couple of years already. But to my surprise, they did not decorate this year. Maybe, business was bad...or maybe they are no longer the original occupants.
This one is an awesome shot with the blue sky in the background. Lovely, picturesque image for Christmas :-)

you created a marvellous postcard with this view to your neighbour's house. I'm sure they'd be delighted to use it for their season's greetings:)Definition and colours are magnificent, the brilliance of the lighted house is well balanced by the very attractive golden reflections. I like very much the atmosphere created by the warm lights and the dark evening colours. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely day,

Wonderful Christmas decorations on your neighbor's house. We do similar decorations in India on the occasion of Diwali (the festival of lights). Nice refelctions on the puddle of water illuminating the dark FG. Wonderful blue lights in the BG contrasts the lighted house so well. Thanks for sharing.

You made a statment about your neighbour, no one can argue with... Nice shot, a bit too strong bulbs-light appeared on, but altogether your next-door's know how to make a joli holiday scene.
Have a nice holiday-weekend,

Lovely seasonal decorations, not over-the-top colours and rather tasteful an excellent low light shot - I'm particularly impressed by the wonderful light and colour display but it looks like there's a painstaking job being made to add some cheer - kids just love this don't they! Lovely extra something on the foreground justt to heighten the excitement! Seasons greetings to you and your loved ones.

I am always amazed at what length some people are going for their festive illumination. It does look impressive indeed, but I wouldn't want to pay the electrical bill after that. The little reflections in the puddles in the foreground is what makes this composition for me really.
Over here in Switzerland, our federal tribunal has just ruled that festive lights have to be switched off at night after midnight after some neighbors in a village have complained about light pollution that is disturbing the local wild life ( I suspect they where the wild life concerned themselves :-)
I wish you a very happy new year.

I agree with you! Better to watch the others:)! It must be dangerous to climb on the roof in winter and you got a nice shot here! It's nice at night, I like the effect of the lights and the reflection on the water! Good shot!
Have a great New Year!

Good evening, Murat,
I love the fg reflections in the pool which amplify the effect. Good sharpness and superb warm vs cold color contrasts between the blue and gold. Good cloning skills. I see no evidence of stop signs or poles. A nice starburst effect with the light at right. Have a fantastic weekend!
jmdias (50391) 2014-01-03 23:48
wonderful image. I liked the contrast of the colors, the intense and beautiful golden light, these reflections and the Christmas mood. TFS.

Lovely, decorated house and funny note. I understand your feeling. It must be a hell of a job to put up all these decorations, but they look nice indeed. I like the bright golden house against the deep blue sky. The reflections in the puddle give the utmost effect.
Don't worry about not having such an illuminated house. It means you pollute the planet less :-)
