Air Heritage Museum is located next to the Beaver Falls Municipal Airport connected to its main runway with a taxiway. Air Heritage of Western Pennsylvania originated in 1983. In 1990, as a result of rapidly multiplying opportunities and membership the name was changed to Air Heritage Inc. Volunteers restore historic airplanes which are added to the museum's collection.
During our June '13 visit, we were able to observe the restoration of this Douglas C-47B Skytrain. In January 2013, Air Heritage Inc. made the decision to acquire this C-47 that had been ferried to their airfield. Further research revealed that this plane was delivered to the 9th Air Forces 75th Troop Carrier Squadron on September 30th, 1944. The 75th TCS itself was a part of the 435th Troop Carrier Group, which in turn was a part 53rd Troop Carrier Wing. It flew two resupply missions over the Battle of the Bulge on December 24th and December 26th, 1944 in which it dropped supplies from parapacks as well as from inside the fuselage to the surrounded troops below in the city of Bastogne. It also took part in Operation Varsity, the single largest air drop of troops and supplies during a single day, even to date. Over Varsity it towed two Waco CG-4A gliders full of troops. Overall, it flew in 25 Fully Combat-Operational Resupply Missions in the European theatre from its base in Welford Park, England and Bretigny, France. It also flew 13 missions in which it evacuated American, British, French and even German POWs. The Museum has records for at least 96 missions of various types, which it had taken part in during the war.
Ocak 2013'te, Hava Mirası A.Ş. kendi havaalanına taşınmış bu C-47yi elde etmeye karar verdi. Daha fazla araştırma bu uçağın 30 Eylül 1944 tarihinde 9. Hava Kuvvetleri 75. Asker Taşıyıcı Filosu teslim olduğunu açıkladı. 75.

Not a view most people would get to see from inside an aircraft but what an interesting picture showing it stripped out to its bare bones. Nice to see that some of these wonderful planes are being restored and not all just sent to the bone yard. Good clear and sharp shot of this one.

a renovation work in progress on the fuselage of the old plain, Murat.
Well taken the view with the cockpit door opened, added much depth to the image.
Someone forgot the extended-wire-light torck don on the floor.
Good sharpness, I can see even some rivets on the arched-beams.

Interesting inside gut's view of the C 47's skeleton. Obviously a very sturdy steel construction with no plastic in sight.
thanks for sharing,

This is an interesting photograph showing the inside of Troop carrier, it has the structure of cylinder type, it would carry a lot of supplies or bombs as a transportation's mission in WW-Ⅱ. It is a fact that war progresses armaments industry in respect of technology. Douglas co,ltd would also progress to postwar passenger plane manufacture on the basis of the transportation technology under wartime. Well composed and excellent tone.

Not a usual view in TE. But I find this very interesting. Aircraft intereior stripped off we can see those ribs that keep the structure in shape. You managed to get this view evenly illuminated and strong saturation shows details clearly.

a very interesting picture, your note makes it fascinating. You've illuminated this interior very effectively giving the viewer a lot of details to study and an urge to walk ahead and have a close look at the cockpit. The colours and the textures are real, just as we expect them to be. I know several WWII experts who would be very interested in this photo and note. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great day,
