Photographer's Note
MANHATTAN VI.
During our flying visit to New York, we managed to go "abroad", to the United Nations, as that territory is not in the United States, but international.
However, again, Rockefeller gave the land to build the center, and the US injected the most money into it; so one wonders if it's really impartial of course!
I liked that sculpture, probably representing the Earth, but torn apart in different regions.
10-12-06 Thanks to zizzer77, I now know that the sculptor is Arnaldo Pomodoro, born in Romagna Italy, and currently living and working in Milan. Some Of his "sphere within sphere" can be seen in the Vatican; Trinity college Dublin and the university of California Berkeley...

The broken ball reminds me that we are not everywhere living in peace ... Excellent view. I like the vertical composition and clear image. Good framing and sharp.

Sphere Within Sphere by Pomodoro in Trinity College, DublinArnaldo Pomodoro is an Italian sculptor. He was born on June 23, 1926, in Morciano, Romagna, Italy. He currently lives and works in Milan.
Pomodoro designed a controversial fiberglass crucifix for the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The piece is topped with a fourteen foot in diameter crown of thorns which hovers over the figure of Christ.
Some of Pomodoro's "Sphere Within Sphere" (Sfera con Sfera) can be seen in The Vatican, Trinity College, Dublin and the University of California, Berkeley.

Hello Marie
This is quite a spectacular piece of art, I get the general idea of it but at the same time I don't get it at all.
Your POV is nice, but I feel there lacks a bit of size comparison.
In addition the light seems very hard and the background seems to loose some colour.
Still it is a great view.
Thank you for sharing.

Hola Marie Louise,

Hello Marie Louise,
nice the view as the presentation of this strange sculpture, that lools like as the Earth sphere having inside it a complex mechanism.I like the excellent light and colour management as the clarity of this interesting construction.
I wish for you and to your family wonderful and peaceful Christmas days,Danos

Hi Marie-Louise,
An excellent photo of this sculpture. The lighting was very good and I like that you see every detail om both on the outside and on the inside of the globe. I believe that you are right that there is some kind of sybolism in it. TFS and have a fine week!
Kind regards,
Ulf
