Chelsea row houses, a photo from New York, Northeast

Photographer's Note

Like I noted in my previous post, I picked Chelsea and started walking south on 7th avenue from 31st street. On 30th street I made a right turn and headed towards 8th avenue. Made another right turn on 29th street to 9th avenue. As I was walking on 9th, I saw these beautiful row houses on a street. I was attracted to the monochromatic color of the houses. There was no direct sunlight on this side of the street. Still, I managed to get a nice shot.

Hi Lakshmi,

Good use of diminishing linear perspective to add depth with excellent sharpness & a pleasant diffused light. Nice repetition of the arches & windows & you even got some reflections! The man is well placed over the vanishing point at right. Tfs!

Hello Lakshmi,

This is a very good presentation of these houses in a fine oblique line. The inclusion of the sidewalk increase the deepness and gives yet a better senses of perspective. The colors and tones are well rendered with very good sharpness.

Hello Dear Lakshmi!

The neighbourhood is so photogenic. As we are led through many of the attractive streets of Manhattan, those row houses present themselves very charmingly. Although all the façades appear the same, there seems to be a slight difference in the configurations in the design of the façades. I wonder when they were built. Off course, I have never seen these houses before. This view will not be available in a few weeks. The leaves on the trees in front of the houses will hide the façades. From inside though the occupants of those houses will have wonderful views of those trees in front of their windows. The springtime on this street must be so inviting. The strong perspective draws us in to the scene. We appreciate very much the latest image from your Manhattan.

I totally agree with you..... this is a nice photo. I like the soft colour of the walls. It all looks tidy & kind of perfect.
you even got an interesting reflexion on the second set of windows.

I had to look twice at the location here, I honestly thought it was London. I never knew anything like this existed in the US. Excellent perspective with the diagonal lines, , the person on the the far left gives us a sens of scale and the lovely golden tones of the sandstone are further accentuated by the beautiful light. And excellent sharpness too!

I do not remember to have visited this area of Chelsea, and thanks to your photo I can admire a type of very rational and humanist architecture, in an image with a magnificent perspective.

It is interesting to observe such architecture in modern cosmopolitan city of New York City. The perspective used is incredible and the dry, barren trees add more beauty to the image.
