Flat iron building, midtown Manhattan. I chose my POV so that the western side of the building was just not in sight anymore. I tried to get a longer exposure in the middle of the day with two ND8 filters to see the cars move. Changed colours into ancient grey scale, because the building was constructed in 1902. One of the oldest here...

Very nice conversion and nostalgic treatment... very strong credible B/W quality of silver halide & selenium tone. I like the minimalist spatial composition filled with intricate details and vignettes (however the blurred traffic detracts a bit - frozen-in-time traffic would appeal to me). I like that you allow the image to be free of the horizontal, giving action and energy and contemporary quality.
This image feels like a nice homage of Alfred Stieglitz photo in 1903 ( http://www.masters-of-photography.com/S/stieglitz/stieglitz_flatiron_building_full.html )

Quel superbe traitement qui pourrait faire penser que cette photo date de la construction en 1902.

love it! those crossing diagonals bring a lot of dynamism. The lead-in line in the FG works pretty well, and the general treatment too. The 'white' sky only brings more emphasis on this superb building. Congrats again!

I can truly appreciate the difficulty in photographing this style of building.
I have 3 photos of the same Flat Iron buildings in my gallyer, 1 is shorter, the other is tremendously taller.
The shape is beautiful, as are the angles and lines. Great low POV pointing upwards to extend the building even higher.

I like this "old" photo very much. This thin building is really impressive. Melancholic feeling. Well done!

sepia was the right choice of course to make this one timeless... even the lady on the billboard doesnt give a sign of the times... very nice chris...
cheers from heidelberg...

By your POV, you perfectly rended the FLAT building, which seems to be only a wall. The use of sepia tone is a good way to comme back to the early XXth century, but the cars are not in the mood!!. Well done

Wonderful use of the sepia and great composition and subject too.

Excellent stuff, this shot. Good choice of sepia, it goes well with the title too. Brilliant composition. What more to say...? Congratulations!

you know I have recently visited NYC and took many shots but most of them are terribly bad :( Here you present a very good composition. The strong contrast works perfectly with the sepia and it enhances the shape of this interesting building. The tilt and distorion also do their part in the compo. Well done!

MIr gefällt das Sepia, pass sehr gut zum Building, also mit der relativ längen Belichtung merkt man weniger, dass unten moderne Autos fahren.
Grüsse und schönes WE, JY

Amazing steel constructed building this is. I read about old skyscrapers in New York and this one built in elegant style.
You gave good respect in taking a very nice picture of this 107 year old edifice. Very creative, uniquely vintage and timeless.

da fehlen ja nur noch die Pferde und Kutschen, um ein altes Foto perfekt zu imitieren. Auch der weisse Himmel passt gut, die Atmosphäre eines alten Fotos wurde ist perfekt realisiert!

Extraordinary angle for the flatiron!! And sepia suits so well!

That's a real NY icon and your photo is pretty original and attractive!
Sharpness, exposure, pov, dof and composition are all excellent!
TFS - congratulations!
