Maple Ridge Ski Resort Photo

Photographer’s Note

This lovely little pond will be making snow in about a month for the upcoming ski season.
On this day the temps were in the mid 60s with a clear blue sky which for very unusual for this year when most days the temps were below normal with alot of heavy rain.

Hi Tom,
I can see why they call it Maple Ridge.
It's a very pretty spot, the fall colours are beautiful.
No swimming dogs this time, must be getting a bit cold for them.

Hi Tom, Beautiful shot. Sky blue, water blue and lovely maple trees with the autumn dress reflecting. How could you go wrong. I really appreciate the foreground foliage as it gives greater depth to the sot. Most people would have cropped it out. Glad you didn't. I am sure that there will be snowfall here soon. Hi Tom

It looks more like a very lovely spot to spend a few hours in the sun then a skying destination. On which altitude is this pound? Most probably it will be frozen in winter. Your framing is excellent with the flowers and grass in the FG while you have the colorful autumn forest in the BG, setting a perfect contrast to the blue sky. Well done

Tom,
I am enjoying these autumn colors shots since we don't see these great colors in Florida. Your composition is fine here using the reflection to add depth and balance to the scene. The lighting and colors are great and the photo has nice sharpness. The brush in the foreground adds nice depth to the scene while the deep blue sky contrasts the autumn colors nicely.

It's difficult to believe that this colourful and gay scenery will be soon covered with snow. Our ski resorts are in high mountains...
The photo talks by itself and every words seems inappropriate to describe the beauty and aliveness of this image.

With these superb autumn's colors very well collected, this image is full of serenity, of peacefull. Supreb blue color in the lake too in harmony with the beautiful coloured reflections. The vegetation give rythm and depht to the image.

The conditions do look perfect, not what you would anticipate for a ski resort! The colours really are a wow!
I like how you have set the limits of the water by including the f/g grasses. The reflections in the water extend and magnify the beauty and effect of the far shore. Your polariser has given the blues a deep, pleasing hue.

Hello Tom,

Looking closely I think I see a ski lift in the background, otherwise this place seems far from a ski resort!
But I guess it all depends on the snow hehehe...
No doubt the place is lovely as it is and much to my liking - the pond, the autumn colours and the blue sky is all very lovely!

Hi Tom,
I love the angle of the hillside reflected in the dogs' swimming hole, did you leave them at home on this day to assure yourself of a calm reflection. I think I might prefer the compo without the fg foliage.

What lovely fall colours! The blue lake and sky are magnificent! I find it's not always easy to capture both blues in the sky and in the water! I find it's often either one or the other which will have the bright colour!
I love the composition with the high grass in the front and the reddenig trees in the background!
