This is my photo from the Watkins Glen State Park.
It is located outside the village of Watkins Glen, New York, south of Seneca Lake in Schuyler County in the Finger Lakes region. The park's lower part is near the village, while the upper part is open woodland. It was opened to the public in 1863 and was privately run as a tourist resort until 1906, when it was purchased by New York State. Since 1924, it has been managed by the Finger Lakes Region of the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.
Jacob's Ladder, near the upper entrance to the park, has 180 stone steps, part of the 832 total on the trails
The centerpiece of the park is a 400-foot-deep (120 m) narrow gorge cut through rock by a stream – Glen Creek – that was left hanging when glaciers of the Ice age deepened the Seneca valley, increasing the tributary stream gradient to create rapids and waterfalls wherever there were layers of hard rock. The rocks of the area are sedimentary of Devonian age that are part of a dissected plateau that was uplifted with little faulting or distortion. They consist mostly of soft shales, with some layers of harder sandstone and limestone.
The park features three trails – open mid-May to early November – by which one can climb or descend the gorge. The Southern Rim and Indian Trails run along the wooded rim of the gorge, while the Gorge Trail is closest to the stream and runs over, under and along the park's 19 waterfalls by way of stone bridges and more than 800 stone steps. The trails connect to the Finger Lakes Trail, an 800-mile (1280 km) system of trails throughout New York state

A well composed scene, revealing rich textures of the rocks and some lovey details. The golden glow reflecting from the wall is also very attractive. The 120 meter deep gorge must have been quite a sight!
Than you for sharing and have a great weekend!

Fine view of a portion of Watkins Glen State Park, the sedimentary rock layered cliff, with water cascading downstream.
I would enjoy exploring this Park, probably more than the man made buildings.
Thanks for sharing,

One word comes to mind here, smooooooooth! :)You definitely have some great pictures taken from this location, and I hope many more of them show up here! This certainly makes a strong case to keep this location in mind for a visit the next time I head to New York. Nature can sure put on a beautiful show, and you know how to project it through this medium. I love the natural flow of elements in this shot, the streaming water and the layered rock come together in a very harmonious manner. Have a wonderful weekend my friend. Take care.

I have no idea where it could be, nice silky view of the cascade, although a bit oe. Must be splendid gorge.
Yesterday I met Gertt in Warsaw Old Town and of course I told him about our meeting two zears ago. But we had no luck with the weather. We went also to see the University Library but then it started to rain, so just chatted at my home. Maybe today will be a bit better.
Warm regrads MAlgo

a beautiful park, I really like the effect you got On the water here. The strange green tones look almost like something from another world. Excellent light management to fit this fine result
thanks as always

Le temps d'exposition de 2 sec donne un très beau résultat au niveau de la texture de l'eau qui coule doucement dans cette image. J'aime le côté jaunâtre de la pierre.

A well framed shot of this pool with many interesting details. Sulphur toned sediment layers show clearly and motion blur of flowing water looks cool.

i looked at this and saw it was a USA photo, then i thought to myself where did you take it...my guess was somewhere in Arizona or California...to my surprise it was NY!!
How did you even find out about this place? never heard of it before.
as Jason mentioned, it has that smooth look at feel to it, along with some wacky colors :)
see you around
