Photographer’s Note

The word "Niagara" is derived from the Iroquois Indian word "Onguiaahra" meaning "the strait"
Niagara is very young river, only 12,000 years old! Goat Island between American Falls and Canadian "Horshoe" Falls was formed only 500 years ago…

It is a shot of American Falls.

Even if winter is cold, the tremendous volume of water (500—600 m³/sec) never stops flowing, however, the falling water and mist create ice formations along the banks of the falls and river.

Stunning falls, nicely captured. Must have been cold! I have got to go visit this place some day. It is a long drive from home though and I like to take road trips. I would have to have at least a month off work to drive that far!

Beautiful composition of the falls. Snow in foreground is in harmony of colour with the white clouds of splashing water. The piicture could be a bit more shap (maybe a bit more USM mask).

Hi Nikolay - very nice view of the falls, I especially the tall plume of water at the back.
