[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I've been looking at this building for about a year now, but up until last Saturday I couldn't come up with anything worth photographing. but that evening I finally saw what I wanted - from a higher vantage point the building seemed detached from the ground and reminded me a scene from "The Chonicles of Amber", where one of the worlds was made up from gently floating rocks. I guess I wanted to show a different New York City, not as crowded as in my yesterday's post.

the building is on the corner of 1st Avenue and 33rd street and overlooks river and Long Island. I find it funny that it seems a bit bent forward, and the only explanation I can find is different reflections in the windows that might create this effect. I used a cir-pol filter, but otherwise the image is pretty much as I saw it, only slight adjustments in curves in levels.

Hello Kristine,
The light is wonderful on the horizon but also the reflected light in the tall building. If this was my view i would not complain.
Your composition is well chooosen and works excellent...like it a lot.
Regards, Henk

Hello Kristine,

I have just discovered your work and I am totally a fan.
This photo loosens a strange atmosphere thanks to this evening light.
The composition is very well-kept with a perfect control of the space.
Thank you.

Olá Kristine!
The light and this view you present us is just beautiful...
I think you succeeded on showing a different NY, because when I saw the picture I didn't realize it was in NY, this isn't crowded and full of skyscrapers - the typical view from NY. So it is very interesting and as said before beautiful.
Congratulations and thanks for sharing.
Ana

This one is also amazing! Perfect quality!

TFS and regards,
Philip

Good Morning Kristine,

Your patience and high vantage point paid off. I really like the colors of the sky and how they reflect into the windows of the building. A very pretty and serene landscape, not NYC at all!

Great shot,

Mel

Wonderful light and very subtle, lovely reflections on those high-rise buildings, Kristine.
I don't think I'd feel depressive to live here...
Great overall quality, therefore : an excellent shot!
You have a great day.
Ciao,
Fulvio.

this POV, revealing the "cesna highway" (the river), definitely creates an illusion of a non-crowded place. nice pastel tint on the house and the river. good composition too. TFS.

Hi Kristine,
WOW! Excellent composition. When I first saw your picture in the gallery section I thought lower half of the building was a reflection on the water. After I enlarged the view I was amazed to see how the colors of the building blended with the river. I like your note. Incredible shot.. Well worth the wait.
Bravo

Hello Kristine
This image is very well composed with the high rise on the left making way for the view on the other side of the shoreline. All is sharp thanks to a very good DOF. Nice natural colours too.
Best wishes
Mark

Hello Kristine,
Sharp contrasting on the buildings. Long exposure gave a smoth water face. I like the effects of the coluds very much too. well done.

Hello Kristine,
You certainly have captured a stunning view, but what appeals to me the most, is the quality and clarity of this pic, it almost feels as though I am standing high up there right now!! The colours are beautiful, natural and the sharpness spot on! I much prefer you composition of the not so crowded New York, very different and refreshing!
Well done!
Best regards,
Costa.

Hi Kristine,
Great impact this picture. Wonderful composition.
Right moment to capture the colours of the sky in the reflections in the windows.
Great job.

I'm not a big fan of frames, but here it works very well.
Your photo seems to fly above the frame. that matches to the title you gave at this picture.
Yes, indeed, the building seems to fly. Great shot!!
