Photographer's Note
Yesterday evening at work, I was captivated by a beautiful sunset behind the Empire State Building and the rest of the skyline. The clouds seemed to form a canopy over the sky, and the colors were great.
The top of the Empire State Building is lit up from dusk until dawn every day. For most of this month the lights have been red and green for the holiday season, but yesterday they were blue, in honor of the 60th anniversary of UNICEF.

Hello Brenda,
I cannot believe that i'm the first viewer mesmerized by this site. This is quite simply one of the finest photos of the Manhattan skyline that I've ever seen. Well done! It is beautifully composed, exquisitely exposed. Greetings from Virginia, Bulent

Hi Brenda,
It's a very, very nice shot.
Greetings from Barcelona,
Josep

Hi Brenda,
I like the silhouette of the buildings against the lower clear sky & the upper cloudy sky. The clouds are so low and so dramatic. Is batman coming tonight? Very sharp & well composed photo. Well done.

Hello Brenda -
Wow, this is a nice image of the Manhattan skyline. The composition is very pleasing and makes one envious of your daily view. But, IMO, I think there could be just a bit more detail in the shadows. Well done.
Thank you for sharing

Wow what a atmospheric shot. Well captured. I like that you can still see the lights of the windows but they are not dominating the picture. Beautiful colors and well balanced.

Hello Brenda,
Your view is spectacular with silhouettes of major symbol New York. Especially I like splendid colored sunset band behind of silhouettes and illuminated points ;) on façades. Cloudy sky is really nice. Congratulations.
I would like to wish to you and your family a joyful and peaceful holiday season, and a prosperous New Year.
Best Regards,

Hi Brenda,
I remember we stayed on 42th street, and we could see the Empire State Building from our window, but here from your window you are blessed with a sunset That's what I I always think, sunsets are really not so meaningful for me unless they are accompanied by some striking silhouettes.

Very nice shot! There is a very wide range of styles in your gallery, some are very original. This is more traditional but it works really well. I think we are used to seeing this skyline from a distance but this POV offers us something fresh yet familiar at the same time. You are lucky to work in an office with a view (I can only see neon advertising from my office window here in Japan). thanks for sharing it with us. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hi brenda. I don't know anything about New York except from what I have seen on TV, in Newspaper and in Gang of NY (sic)... but going through your gallery is quite an experience of it. This picture sparked my interest because of the many contrast between light and dark, cloud and sky...scrapers! Thanks, Tibo

Realmente hermoso!

Well done, Brenda. I like the colors of the sunset in the b/g which makes the buildings stand out in silhouette. The blue light is a nice touch to the Empire State Building and I like how you didn't center it.
p.s. Do you live and work in NYC?

My favorite city, and I work here often. Actually visiting on Sunday, just get my fix (photorush) I call it. Even though I'm 45 mins away, I still stay in NYC once a month. So I never tired of pictures and this one is great..tfs

Hi Brenda,
I really could not pass without writing a critique on this one. It is absolutely superb. The composition, the colors, the silouettes, and the lights, like little jewels, the color of the sky is wonderful. Best regards. Salvator.

Hi Brenda!
So when are you going to post your next new photo! I've really enjoyed your last few new ones!
I thought i'd go way back into your gallery and do a little searching :)
I take it the photo was shot through big glass right?
it may not be 100% sharp, but thats expected too.
your comment is 100% correct about the skyline blanketing the city.
great color contrasts with the golden band in the middle.
nice shot

Dear Brenda,
Lovely sunset shot - what makes it different than the others is the layering of grey clouds - lighting is well managed.

Hi Brenda,
What an incredible city, one of my two favorites without doubt. So many things to photograph, and with such an iconic skyline it's virtually impossible not to instantly recognize. Beautiful "mood" created here with this sunset and the faintly lit silhouettes of the Manhattan buildings, I'm envious of your daily view. The slight bit of red from the clouds really stands out to my eye and adds that little punch to the overall scene, fantastic capture!
Many thoughts and prayers to everyone in your area of the country right now dealing with the aftermath of Sandy. Stay strong, you've taken some hits but have always been resilient!
Best Wishes,
Jason
