Photographer's Note
This is another offering from the Times Square in New York City. I was experimenting the Warped Speed effect with my camera.
I would like to dedicate this photo to Rabani on TE whose notes with his photos I have always found very rich in technical information. The inspiration for this photo and knowledge about the technique had come from this photo on TE by Rabani. For those of you who do not know how to create this effect, I would strongly recommend visit to the photo by Rabani. It explains the technique very well ... Good Luck and happy shooting.
You can also look at my previous photo from the same place.
TIMES SQUARE: Times Square, named after the one-time headquarters of The New York Times, is a neighborhood in the borough of Manhattan, New York City, which centers on 42nd Street and Broadway. It consists of the blocks between 6th and 9th Avenue from east to west and 39th and 52nd Streets from south to north. It makes up the western part of the commercial area of Midtown Manhattan.

Sarju,
Great effect.Nice note and good POV.
The pic need not be sharp for this effect but I think the center of your frame, if its sharp and everything around it is warped, it would give a great look to the pic.Anyway great shot and thanks for sharing- Vikram

Hmmm...the warped speed effect is in the city now. Wish I had a city just like yours here to get that streaking lightworks. And it must have cost you quite a lot of frames to try this effect, which just like you, I learnt from someone else, years ago. Another effect which you might like to try is turning your camera at its Z axis when taking the shot. The circular effect is just as heady. Thanks again Sarju. Just like our photos, we also share techniques and tips ya.
Namaste my friend

Hi Sarju,
A dramatic effect, much like an abstract painting. I would prefer to see greater sharpness in the mid-frame, but appreciate the art of what you have produced. The myriad colours and cacophany of Times Square is well represented here. A dramatic representation making good use of the technique.

Hi Sarju, This a fun picture. You certainly have brought a good discussion topic here. I like the fun effect of this picture. You have well controlled the exposure time and good use of the warped effect technique.
Another good example of warped effect is from Aubrey (rosaline). Aubrey did a good evening shot in this photo.

Hi Sarju - it worked brilliantly its great that there is some part that is in focus I have never tried it it look like a steady hand and a sturdy tripod would be needed, greetings from Yemen.

Hi Sarju,
I love this kind of experiences and this one fits just right in Times Square, as the resulted dynamis of the image, has everything to do with the dynamic atmosphere of the place. It's almost an abstract work, although we can still distinguish the general shapes of this famous place. Well done with this artistic result!

Using this effect on something so colourful has produced a very interesting result. An abstact image that would not look out of place blown up and block mounted on an appartment wall.

Wonderfully original shot of Times Square Sarju! The effect gives a sense of movement in three dimensions. Appropriate, considering that Times Square is a very busy place with people moving in all directions!

ps I guess the name "warped speed" comes from Star Trek?

Hi Sarju,
A lovely abstract picture. More interesting than a razorblade sharp picture of this lights. The movements here make the images much more thrilling.
Great work.

It fits well for New York and this place. Unexpected on TE but a good graphic compo, with a blur that creates energy as the city does.
Interesting.

Great use of the 'warped' effect Sarju. Something I may need to experiment with this weekend :)
I like how you have given this very photgraphed location your own style.
The only problem with film is forgetting what settings you used with every photo.
Well done

Hey Sarju. This is a freaky shot for sure. I'm impressed with how much we can still make out even with the blur and soft focus. This is most creative! tfs Sarju.
