The other day, while taking a walk on Highline Park, I couldn't help but notice a pair of giant, blue eyes watching me - and everyone else. :-)
As I've mentioned in previous notes, Highline Park is a wonderful outdoor space created on a stretch of abandoned, elevated railroad tracks in Chelsea. The first section opened in 2009, and the second in 2011. There is one final section left, and if all goes according to plan, it will open later this year.
The first thing I noticed when I got up to the park was the amazing smell. There are so many wildflowers in bloom, and they smell great. The landscape changes along the way, from large sections of flowers, to a walkway with a canopy of trees overhead, to a grassy lawn where you can sit and relax.
These blue eyes followed me for a while, but not to worry, I was watching them back. :-)
In the WS is another POV with the giant eyes.

Haha, before I read your note I thought the reference was to yourself being caught in the act, as it appears the lady shading her face is looking your direction. I quickly realized however, there are actually two big eyes staring them down from behind. :)
Aren't these the best moments, just out for a walk and coming across something like this...you simply can't script such a candid result. A fun scene indeed, and one which has probably escaped many a camera, but you got it! Smart observation and quick thinking to grab this shot. I hope the giant eyes didn't creep you out, and you were able to have a seat and enjoy the aroma's. Enjoy the new day. Take it easy.

That's a clever one, showing your sense of observation and quick reflex. I found your shot really well composed, with the bench anchored in one corner, and the inquisitive eyes perfectly place, almost discreetly, so it takes a second to realize the great visual play you have created.
This is excellent "street shooting", funny and well-taught.

Poor people, being watched by those large eyes from one side and by you from the other. And the moment they use their mobile phones everything will go straight to the NSA. This is a funny picture and the kind of smart observation from the street that I always enjoy.

Very interesting capture! A giant peeping Tom watching the lovers. I like the POV in the Workshop also, an innovative way to make a construction boarding interesting. Congratulations

A very fine street scene with many enjoyable details. The painted blue eyes here are carefully watching the couple here but the diagonal lines along the benches are pointing to the little girl in red dress, she is really stealing the show.

A well chosen angle ensures that the main characters are well positioned in your photograph but the peeping eyes are still relevant. I'm glad you allowed the young girl in shot, too, for her vivid dress is eye-catching and she sort of redirects attention to the eyes.
I do like the idea of fragrant smells in the centre of a city. I must admit, I was so surprised when I cam to N.Y. how much vegetation and green spaces there were. Often, when we walked along the Esplanade, by the Hudson River, towards Battery Park, we would see numerous squirrels ... not what I expected but was charmed to see!
My warm regards,

that's street life: have your eyes open to detect some uncommon scene. Big sister is watching you!

This is an amusing picture with the blue eyes apparently watching the people on the benches. Excellent street photography and one that I enjoy very much.
Kind Regards, Ann

This caught my eye in the thumbnail, it's a brilliant work very well seen and executed. There's a three-way 'conversation' going on there, with us participating.
Great composition, and the colour is gorgeous, seductive. Congrats

I saw today in TV that a giant mural commemorating the 1944 Warsaw Uprising is being painted on the walls of the Polish National Home “Warsaw” at Driggs Avenue in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Maybe it would interest you?
Nice shot from High Line Park. I like the blue eyes watching and the cute girl in pink.

what?? I was 100% sure I had already commented on this one! I must be loosing my mind :)
I remember viewing it because I remember guessing it was Highline Park even before reading the note.
creepy eyes in the bg :)
probably not really, but the way you composed the photo it gives off that feeling.
I miss NYC and the Highline

As usual, your title is as interesting as the photo, and the photo The deep overgrowth adds mystery to the eyes. The bench appears to be organic, designed perfectly to fit the setting, and for children to walk on an undulating path.
Periko (5610) 2014-08-06 21:59
Good capture. Those eyes really seem to be spying on those two girls!
Vertical framing well done.

I like your series about NY. I try to recognize the places. I can remember that I walked here last your, but I can’t remember the eyes of Big Brother watching me.
Good picture full of humor.

Big brother is everywhere:) I love this kind of street photography. A funny picture and an excellent observation. Well done!
Have a nice Sunday/

Clever shot. Not only you but the eyes are watching. There are clearly discussions to be had about the nature of surveillance society and ownership of images implicit within such shots and your image symbolises that perfectly. Very observant and clever. Well done.
Be careful about "watching back" - Edward Snowden and all that!
Cheers and have a great day.
