Times Square is always a busy and crazy place, but things got even more interesting this past week. Today is "Super Bowl Sunday". The championship game of the National Football League will be played tonight, and for many people this is a big event. Every year the Super Bowl is held in a different stadium, and this year the game will be played across the river in New Jersey.
What does this have to do with Times Square?? Well, even though the game will be played in New Jersey, New York is also considered the cohost, and Times Square was turned into Super Bowl Boulevard with lots of football-related activities.
A few days ago I took a walk over to check out the action, and it was even more crowded and busy than usual, with tons of police, cameras, and visitors. It was hard to walk around, and an even greater challenge to cross the street. In the middle of a gridlocked crosswalk, I turned around, and found the NY police, and a yellow taxi stopped in front of the giant neon news ticker.
In the WS are two more photos: one of the intersection with a Super Bowl ad included, and another showing the giant toboggan run that many people enjoyed.

As I have already stated previously, you always succeed in presenting us very colourful views of NYC.
The yellow cab and the police car are an attractive foreground for the colourful publicity on the corner building.
Best regards, Paul

Very fine and very interesting glimpses of daily life in this big city. This is indeed a place to be visited, there are so many things to see and details to enjoy. Did Denver win?

is everything ok? and the cold, reduced?
I like to much the photo, the straight crop on the cars is great. I have lots of photos from that place. I like to much the workshop photos, love the toboggan, amazing this strutcture in the middle of the Times Square.

I noticed this photo yesterday but I didn't have any critiques left...sometimes i wish TE didn't have that 20 limit per day thing....
love the WS photo. in fact, it would have been good enough to be a separate photo all by itself...imagine that, tobogganing in Times Square! thats awesome.
as for Times Square itself, this one is great too b/c i love the activity, signs, and colors.
did you bet on the game? haha
i didn't...but i wish i did b/c the team i picked won!
have a great one

Not a super game per se, but it sure was a super outcome! :) I loved every minute of it, and I would very much loved to have taken in everything surrounding it here in Times Square. Our turn next year though. :)
A classic and timeless NYC shot you have here. The PD, yellow taxi and neon jungle of the Square all rolled into one frame...this is great! You can just feel the electricity of the city through this kind of imagery...even in the dead of a bone chilling winter. How about the luck for the game itself with that window of "warm" temps?
Cool WS pictures too, this must have been a lot of fun for everyone. So glad you braved the elements and crowds to share this event with us. Enjoy the rest of the evening. Take good care, and best of luck dealing with the never-ending fury of Old Man Winter.

How familiar this corner seems! It's a busy photo, emblematic of New York, with the hustle and bustle, indeed the vortex of the world. Enjoy what's left of the weekend. Carol Jean joins me in sending best wishes,

What a great shot. So symbolic of NY, and although I've never been to your amazing city, I feel like I know this place so well through TV and such great photos. Excellent tight framing, good contrast and management of light and shade. It looks like a still shot from Law & Order!

Wonderful image of the city of London. The quality of the shot is perfect and I like a lot the natural colours

wonderful shot from daily life of a very busy city.. The cars echoing the one in the billboard create a very dynamic scene. I don't care about the Super Bowl actually but I guess a lot of Americans do, so I wish you a very good time watching it.
Thanks and best wishes!

You're capturing well this exciting place by a good angle and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see Times Square Corner which is filled with the commertial sighnoards, the taxi and people. It looks like to show a busy day on that day when seeing the policeman who is controlling traffic. The whole is harmonized well by a good arrangemnent and fine color combination.

Although I believe the Super Bowl is of rather limited interest to most people outside the US, the football craze gave you lots of splendid photo opportunities. I enjoy all of these shots where there is so much going on and so many details to watch. I love the atmosphere of big, lively cities and you have captured it very well.

This is a vibrant street scene. I hope the pigs didn't object to your photographing them!

This is one of the most expressive places in New York and the NYPD cars are part of the cityscape. It makes me smile, thanks for memories.
