In the bustle and craziness of New York's Times Square on a busy afternoon or night, you will see scores of costumed figures: Batman, Elmo, the Statue of Liberty.
But for more than a dozen years, arguably the most original of these is the Naked Cowboy. His fame has now spawned a franchise, with eight different cowboys and cowgirls.
Almost anytime you go to Times Square, you will see the original Naked Cowboy in a white cowboy hat, white boots and white underwear briefs, with the words "Naked Cowboy" written across his butt. That's all he's wearing.
Fact it was about 5 Celcius degree when I took this photo.

Provocative candid of the Naked Cowboy - "Only in America"?
A sight more common in our tourist big cities than many think. In California, Hollywood and San Francisco attract the wacky characters, and sometimes the tourists get carried away and behave weird. Must be something in the air?

There he is. :-) I like the view of all of the people walking normally in the background. It takes a lot to surprise New Yorkers. I once took a photo with the Naked Cowboy, and he invited me to hit his rear end!! I didn't do it; I only pretended to. :-)

yeah, sometimes, the back cover is more important than the front :P
he indeed tries hard to grab attention, but funnily enough, that looks in vain. why do the people around look so bored to death when there is a naked cowboy to amuse them?

Haha, what a classic NYC piece of "artistry!" I've also taken a few shots of the Naked Cowboy, and I've most enjoyed seeing the reactions from everyone in passing.:) You have to admire the dedication, yeah? There's certainly not much advertising space, but he's done well to put it out there! A well detailed shot that let's us know of the hustle and bustle that is part of this vibrant city. How can you not help but smile? :) Enjoy the new week.
