Photographer's Note
When people think of Fifth Avenue, they think about expensive shops in the heart of Manhattan, but that is only one aspect of this famous street.
Depending on where in Manhattan you are, the character of Fifth Avenue changes. It begins just north of Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village, and runs north, all the way to Harlem.
In Greenwich Village and Chelsea, there are more casual stores and restaurants. As you move north to midtown, there are the business skyscrapers and fancy shops. Then along Central Park West, you have several of the top NYC museums. Finally, you reach Harlem, which has more low-rise apartments and modest places to shop and eat.
Taking a city bus along Fifth Avenue is a nice way to see many of the city's most famous sights. Some of them from south to north are: The Flatiron Building, The Empire State Building (seen in this photo), the main branch of the NY Public Library, Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Central Park, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Guggenheim Museum.

Hi Brenda - great slice of life on Fifth Ave here - we can see all manner of New York scenes going on, all with the Empire State looking on. Nice bright and deep shot!

Hi Brenda,
A typical view of Manhattan and its busy sidewalks, with pedestrians walking at good pace between the skyscrapers and their shadows.
For someone who has never been in Midtown, your photo offers a good sense of being there.
I'm missing this city so much! Fortunately, I'm coming back in June for the 27th time and with my girlfriend who never put her feet in USA! It will be fun!...
Best regards,
André

Hello Brenda
I read your note with interest. I have some airmiles and I might use them on trip to New York at some point since they are with Virgin Atlantic. Your note tells me that I can see all I need to and find some great buildings to photograph all on one avenue! Great!

Hello Brenda,
This is a fine composition where you have successfully combined a strong human presence with famous buildings. That's really an excellent way of showing a city. Judging from the clear sky and the date it must have been a hot day, so I don't really envy the businessman in his dark suit. On the other hand I enjoy seeing him in that spot talking to the woman.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Breanda.
This is another fine street scene in tall frame. The light and tone are brilliant putting the skyscrapers of NYC in excellent perspective.
Thanks and have a nice day.

Hi Brenda,
I took a photo very similar than that, but in a more dark light. Love the 5th and Broadway Aves, great places for photos.
You got a new camera?

Hello Brenda,
Now this really is a slice of daily life shot of one of the most famous streets in the world. Your note informs the scene, with pedestrians going about casually in unusually good weather — a couple engaged in banter, one man on his cell phone, and a much closer scrutiny would probably reveal many others on their cell phones.
Warm regards, Brenda,
Bulent

Hi Brenda,
a good capture of this daily life scene in the fabulous Fifth Avenue, where we can enjoy the elegant architecture of the Empire State Building, which stands out on a beautiful blue sky. The vital atmosphere of the city is obvious in your shot.
I like the good light, its shades and the quality of the colors, in a nice urban composition.
I adore this city!
Kind regards,
