Rainy night in New York City, a photo from New York, Northeast

Photographer's Note

Some pictures taken during a business trip to New York City in September 1985. This one was taken a rainy September evening in Park Avenue; the building in the background is the Helmsley Building.

The image was originally shot on Agfa CT21 slide film and has since been transferred to digital. Apologies for any shortcomings and lack of sharpness due to age and the transfer process.

a moody yet atmospheric shot of the Big Apple. Really like the golden tones and hues in this shot and it brings back memories of my rainy night in New York too! Amazing to think this shot is 28 years ago.

Hi Stephen,
A very fine trasfer. The wet pavements act like a lake and make beautiful reflections of the busy and damp streetscape beyond. Lovely colours, and a great feeling of this always active city.

I like those cars too, I always did admire the larger American cars from the 80's, used to admire them a lot in US TV like the A Team and Knight Rider :)

`Good atmospherical photo of the city that never sleeps,riminds me a bit to the movie poster of ""Taxi driver"" I can almost hear the famous Bernard Hermann soundtrack....

Good morning Stephen,

I don't think you have anything to worry about in regards to the quality of conversion, this looks like it could have been taken recently. Today's technology is amazing, but I sure have a soft spot for these older types of photographs. There's so much character and seemingly more thought behind film since there wasn't unlimited shots available that could be taken and erased in New York minute! This photo has amazing mood, there's almost nothing better than a good storm for dramatic effect and opportunities to capture something different. Very well done, both then & now!
