I will never forget this area of New York City. It was one of my favorite places to visit, and I kick myself in the butt all the time for not spending more time here.
Technically we are in Brooklyn, and the bridge span to the left would take you to Manhattan. This area in Brooklyn was so nice, lots of green space to sit, have a picnic, enjoy the city scape views across the water, enjoy the towering bridges, just soaking in the NYC atmosphere. The other great part about it was that its mostly locals that come here, not only tourists.
I'm sure a second trip to NYC is in the works at some point, and Brooklyn is on that list too. It will also give me another chance to spend more time with Brenda, known as Worldcitizen here on TE, as she lives in Brooklyn - i'm sure she'll be a great tour guide :)
Missing this Manhattan bridge, and the noisy rail cars that pass by every 30sec :)
If you look closely at the bridge, see the white triangles - thats where the railcars/subway cars pass by, right below the bridge deck.
Have a great weekend everyone

must be very strange having a picnic near the grandeur and beauty of such a giant! I really like the unusual cut given to the photo and its vertical format, perfect light and color too. A dear hug.
Have a great WE

Hello Craig, Great shot of this bridge and the surrounding area. I like the technique of using the span as a frame for the buidings shown in the background. Moreover, the presence of the picknickers certainly adds to the shot to include giving us a sense of the dramatic size of the bridge. Years ago I was at the USMA just about an hour from NYC and we would go down to the City sometimes. I never really took any pictures at that time. Excellent presentation. Enjoy your temperatures, we had 111 F here in the desert yesterday. Regards, Roger

una immagine molto riposante sotto il famoso ponte.
Pensare che sopra, lungo il ponte ci sarà stato un traffico intenso di auto.
Bella profondità dell'immagine dove campeggiano i mastodontici piloni e la particolare struttura del ponte.
A nice sunday

A very interesting fragment.
I like frame and colors.

Hi Craig, Not so iconic as Brooklyn bridge but also nice and here it seems very pleasant area for relaxing. and the view from there on the other side must be great. so you plan to go for the second tome? I like my stay in NYC very much. It is a pity I had no TE guide but i was very busy with trying to see as much as possible with my NYC Pass.

Hi craig. A classic motif of Manhattan. The proportions of people, skyscrapers and bridges are well represented. But what all would be without the people. That's why I love the picture. Rgds, Wolfgang.

a great view of this iconic NYC bridge. I love your POV and you have captured it so sharply and in a beautiful light. It has a real sense of Big Apple atmosphere about it and as usual is a flawless execution and presentation. Superb!
Have a peaceful Sunday - Brian.

Absolutely gorgeous Craig and with superior clarity to the max. I find that the colors and light/shadows to be masterfully controlled and combined with your POV and DOF I am very pleased. The setting is very peaceful and calming, and at least the exhaust from the above traffic is going up not down, great job here Craig!!

This is a great view of this famous bridge, in fact it's one I've never seen before. Great use of the vertical frame and bravo with the capture of all those amazing details in the pylon. The people in the bottom right hand corner are really well-placed and provide a good anchor for the rest of the image. Nice work!

Hello Craig! People everywhere are the same. This scene, is very similar to what I saw in London. Good insight, good viable. And I'm a little jealous. Have a nice day. Csaba

This is a stunningly well composed photograph, the massive supporting structure of the bridge perfectly placed in the frame and with some beautiful light upon it as well as the distant buildings. The people relaxing in the park are delightful too and I like how the nearest people are in relative shade.
Gorgeous colours, perfect exposure and exquisite detail and sharpness.

OMG!! I was just going through the gallery, and somehow I hadn't critiqued this great photo. I'm glad I saw it this time around. I love the POV and composition, especially the one person on the picnic blanket in the right bottom corner. While the Brooklyn Bridge gets way more attention, the Manhattan really looks majestic in this photo. I have taken the subway across this bridge, and it's a nice ride. Thanks for another "shout out" in your note. I am more than happy to show you the well-known and also hidden treasures of Brooklyn. Hope you'll be back soon! :-)
JFS (32459) 2012-06-04 23:20
I missed this one and like it a lot because is another perspective of Manhattan from Brooklyn, you eye sees what others don't, fortunatelly! Thant's why i like so much your works. You're shooting people more and more...
alpi1500 (1518) 2012-06-05 12:02
Nice POV and excelent contrast.
Have a nice day.
patdeph (35748) 2012-06-06 10:10
I imagine that I could picnic here during the lunch pause when I am working, but I would not like to be there a sunday for exemple, because I hate the noise. This is funny to read that you are missing this noise.Anyway, there is a good contrast between the relaxing people with this modern bridge where there are numerous cars, even if we can't see the. This is emphasized by a beautiful light.Excellent!
josepmarin (58031) 2012-06-08 10:26
though the Brooklyn Bridge is the most famous, I love also the elegant beauty of the Manhattan Bridge, which you offer us in this photo by means of a fantastic visual angle.
The park under this bridge looks like a very pleasant place to rest during our exhausting walk across the neighborhoods of this huge city.
I like the composition, and the great sharpness of the image, that allows us to see all the details of this majestic bridge.
A beautiful shot.

Good Morning Craig,
I must say that years ago this place did not look as nowadays, good thing that the park was taken good care since.
A fabulous photo, showing a good part of this mighty bridge, with clear elements and contrast to green surroundings.
Have a nice week ahead,
Noel_Byrne (27746) 2012-07-19 6:02
Wonderfully unique shot of this amazing bridge (one of my favourite bridges in the world). I love how you have taken in the people which offers great scale to the immense height.
Thanks for sharing

Yesterday I was here too. Yes, I also could not make optimal exposure because the cars created a lot of vibration of the bridge. Excellent presentation of the details of one of the most interesting NYC's landmarks.
Very nice place for a rest. I hope to meet Brenda on Wednesday too. After my visit of Niagara Falls.
Best wishes from Staten Island!
