I have mentioned it before on my New York City posts, just how impressed and surprised I was by the modern architecture in the big City.
If you want to see new modern buildings surrounded by older ones, take a walk along the High Line in Manhattan, located on the south-west side.
Here we can see this new High Rise Condo in the fg, and in the bg are the classic Water Towers that sit up on the older buildings. Another surprise were the number of water towers all over the city, just like that - sitting ontop of buildings...love it when i'm surprised like that. In all the TV shows and advertisements about NYC, i've never seen water towers before.
So here we have an example of Old and New in New York City.
Thanks for looking.

2 months ago, I bought a photo book from Yann Arthus Bertrand showing the diversity of architectur in NYC. And after reading it, it is fully in line with your note and last posts. I do not know if this book is edited in US, but if yes, I think it will interest you.

Very attractive and interesting composition with old and new architectural details!
Sharpness, exposure, colors, vertical format and slim black borders also pleased me!
TFS - congrats,

A magnified image of architecture, shapes and volumes of the building are original, the reflections in the glass are an added attraction to the image.
Good lighting and a beautiful natural color.

Happy New Year!! Here's another great architectural shot from you, and I like the form of the modern building very much. I'm not 100% sure, but it seems that there is also a reflection of a water tower in the facade of the newer building! You have water towers everywhere. :-)

The metalic tone prevailes and mingle nicely with the cloudy sky aloft.
The water-tanks on the older building sure remind me of NYC, as seen on many rooftops there.
Amazing modern shape,

A pleasure to see all together modern buildings and old structures. The big reservoirs from the background are amazingly attractive.

Another nice capture from NY ! A typical NY scene reminding me to the ancient stories told about Babylone. A great coalition of old and new .
Very good pov and good graphism.
TFS and best regards

I see that you still have beautiful pictures of New York in reserve. This building is very impressive in this beautiful cloudy sky. I don't saw this one in october.

I also was surprised on having seen so many water towers in NYC's buildings.
In this interesting composition you have created a nice overlapping of the New and the Old, because of the modern building in foreground, and its graphical contrast with the water towers in the ancient building in background.
I like the weak luminosity and the smoothness of the colors of the photo.
My best wishes for you and for your dear ones in this New Year!

Hello Craig, I was in the city (Melbourne) on Sunday with several other TE members & your name was mentioned, we saw very much a scene similar to this, an old building, a new building with a reflection of another building and one of us said "do you known the Canadian guy Craig whats his name?" "you mean MacIntosh?" "Yes thats him", we all agreed that while we struggled to compose it adequately you would have known exactly what to do with it. Nice shot, interesting, you can see these things, know what to do & show us how it's done.
