If I leave here tomorrow
Would you still remember me?
For I must be traveling on, now
'Cause there's too many places
I've got to see
And this bird you cannot change
And this bird you cannot change
Lord knows, I can't change
Lord help me, I can't change
Lord I can't change
Won't you fly high, free bird, yeah?
Lynyrd Skynyrd - "Free Bird"
This is one of the first photos from my NYC trip. I took this picture from the Staten Island Ferry. And the seagull helped me to make this composition with these Symbols of Liberty.

we are neighbors today on the newly posted image page!
This is truly a classic scene from NYC, and guess what, I didn't capture it! haha
Guess I'll have to go back again at some point.
good to see all the tiny people in the fg for scale, but I just like the overall Classic Postcard photo sometimes, and this is it.
enjoy your day

La statue de la Liberté et l'oiseau symbolisant la liberté, une photo bien réussie, bien cadrée.

A great moment captured with the seagull and the famous statue. Outstanding sharpness achieved from the ferry. Excellent colors and a perfect composition in vertical format.
With warm regards,

Welcome back home. :-) You got a very nice capture from the ferry, and that bird flew in at just the right moment. :-) Nice vertical framing, and I like the cloudy background, too.

Lady Liberty herself, an icon known the world over. I love the idea that you took this from the boat too, just the same view that so many immigrants would have seen, but perhaps their thoughts were in a different place. Beautiful to capture it with the bird in the scene like this.
All the best

Hi Mr I.F. ,
Perfect postcard of this NYC icon. Good view from the Staten island ferry. Clever inclusion of the free bird. Have you been there on the island?
I am packed and evening will be in Istanbul :).

lovely shot of the old lady. It is such an iconic symbol and I think you always remember the first time you see it close up. I know I do. Immaculately detailed and presented, love the seagull too!
Great song choice.
Enjoy your weekend - Brian.

Very fine capture of this world wide symbol...it's a pity that in these days it has no real meaning.... Anyway, good capture.

Fine view of Lady Liberty, crossing the blue water, then the supporting buildings and almost 'temple like' base, with people lined up below to give the immense scale of this American icon.
And ironically you added Lynard Skynard's lyric popular during our very tumultuous invasion of Viet Nam and many young Americans questioning the government's right to force us into military service via the Draft. And what freedoms did the Viet Nam people have?

Hi dear Serghei
A great title, song and of course decisive moment, and of course the originality of your photo. There are many photos of this icon, but here you give us something different and totally in keeping with the idea of liberty. Free as a bird! Beautiful light and colours, and the usual excellent technical quality.

This pretty much encapsulates most peoples first association with this country. Can you imagine seeing it for the very first time as an immigrant coming into Ellis Island back in the day...that must have been something else! Such an iconic part of NYC and America, and as has been coined "the symbol of freedom." I tried a number of shots while passing on the Staten Island ferry, none of which turned out this well...so I must congratulate your result my friend, very well done!
A bonus to have captured the seagull, it gives that little added touch of excitement to the shot. A good viewpoint that conveys a solid sense of scale because we can see the tourists below, and their small size in comparison. Sharp detail, natural colors, and a smartly utilized vertical framing.
Hope you're enjoying a relaxing weekend. Take it easy.

you maybe had some problems with accessing some National Parks or Monuments... when I was in NYC it was still relatively short after the September 11th and the Statue of Liberty was closed for tourists. I took ferry to the island and I walked around but I could not get to the top :(
And most of all it was in the pre-digital times...
Beautiful postcard like presentation exactly as I would dream to do it by myself. I like the presence of the bird here it adds a nice touch.
