Photographer’s Note

This is the northern part of Lake George, looking north across the lake. Two well-known mountains are visible through the fog, Rogers’ Rock on the left, named after Maj. Robert Rogers, a colonial hero of the French and Indian War, also known as the Seven Years’ War, 1755-1763. I am posting some shots from re-enactments of a major battle of that war, which was fought just beyond the moutain on the right. That mountain is called Anthony’s Nose, named after American Revolutionary War hero, Gen. Anthony Wayne. He evidently had a very long and bumpy one.

The Lake was originally named Lac du Saint Sacrement, by father Isaac Joques, a Jesuit missionary, in the 17th century. Under British control, it was renamed in honor of George II of England. However, to settle the dispute between France and Britain, I have decided to go Italian, and in honor of our own Giorgio Boller, (Gix) I hereby again rename it Lake Giorgio.
