Photographer’s Note

A mother watches her daughter very, very closely near a dangerous lookout area at Taughannock Falls in Ulysses, New York, just outside of Ithaca. The girl was having a lot of fun running around in the soaking, misty air under the massive waterfall.

The sign on the wall reads "STAY THIS SIDE OF WALL."

Taughannock Falls is one of the tallest waterfall in the Northeast, with a drop of 215 feet (66 meters). It is located in the beautiful Finger Lakes region, an area that is topographically dramatically different than its surroundings.

Cornell University, one of the American Ivy League universities, is located near the waterfall in Ithaca, and I've labeled this photograph as being taken there because of the waterfall's close proximity to, and association with, the well-known college town.

I like the mood of this photo. Beautifull waterfall makes nice background, and blurred leg of a little girls give us felling of childs innocent play, as opposite of mother's concerned look.

it's amaizing the effect you obtained by the rotation of the picture... it seems like the dipping of titanic:) but the happiness of the child changes the perspective: we are safe (we are this side of the wall), we are alive, nothing can scare us (because mum is watching us)

you succedded to express the unic sentiment of security given only by the presence of the Mother: no matter the danger outside, the mum is here with me:)

Great job on capturing the expressions on the child's face. That kind of innocence and excitement only exist in children and crazy people. It's a nice background having the falls in there.
